Tories call for Liberals to “come clean” over cess pool emptying service

Shepway Council Conservative Leader Rory Love managed to get a reluctant Liberal group to admit last night that there would be a gap between their cancellation of the cess pool emptying service and any improvements to sewage clearance in the Marsh area.

Rory said “This is typical of the lack of foresight and planning of the current Liberal administration. They think they can get rid of one service without having a replacement ready and functioning.

“I now call on the Liberal administration to come clean on how long a gap there will be and what pressure they are bringing to bear on Southern Water and the Environment Agency to introduce the New Romney mains drainage. This causes unnecessary uncertainty for local people.”

The admission came from a Scrutiny Committee Meeting of Shepway District Council held on Monday 18th August 2003.
