Travel costs reimbursed
Michael
Howard MP for Folkestone and Hythe was delighted to learn that following his
intervention his constituent, Mr J Dawson of Holywell Avenue, Folkestone has
been reimbursed of his travel costs by King’s College Hospital NHS Trust.
Mr Howard
said: “Mr Dawson had one of his regular appointments to visit Kings College
Hospital in London and as was his usual agreement, expected a telephone call
the previous evening to confirm that a car would be at his home to collect and
take him to the hospital. On this
particular occasion, the telephone call did not materialise and neither did the
car the following morning. Fearing that
he would miss his appointment Mr Dawson took the train to London at
considerable cost. He later found out
that a car did in fact arrive but far too late.
“Mr Dawson
wrote to me to complain and I took the matter up with the Hospitals Trust to
ask for reimbursement of both his train and taxi costs. I thought Mr Dawson’s claim was entirely
justified and I am delighted that the Hospital Trust thought so too and
reimbursed him the full amount. All too
frequently I write letters of complaint to Hospital Trusts and I am more than
delighted that Kings College Hospital Trust have apologised for the concern
caused to Mr Dawson and repaid the monies which he could ill afford.”
